Coming to Faith in Jesus Christ
My hope is in God alone — the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit — and I believe in Jesus Christ and love Him deeply. I came to faith in late 2004 after watching The Passion of the Christ by Mel Gibson, featuring Jim Caviezel as Jesus. Through the film Christ touched my heart, and I gave my life to Him. He put it on my heart to get a Bible, which I did, and the moment I read the words of Jesus in the New Testament, I believed.
Growing in Understanding
It has taken me many years to grasp the true gospel and the true doctrines of the faith. Through careful study of the plain reading of Scripture — which many misunderstand — God has patiently corrected me, taught me, and strengthened my faith.
My Background and Calling
Before I came to Christ, I had already developed a love for computer programming. I received a Diploma of Multimedia in 2003, and through countless hours of personal research and practice I became an expert in the field. Because this gift came before my conversion, I pray that God will continue to redeem it for His glory. I even built my website for Jesus myself. Yet my hope is in the gospel above all, for that is where my treasure is, as Scripture teaches.
My Desire to Bear Fruit
I long to produce a hundredfold harvest if God has mercy on me and clothes me with power from on high, hoping that by His grace it may happen. I cannot preach yet as I lack the ability, but I am working on it through my YouTube channel, trusting that I need the power of God to do the talking — to bring a hundred people to faith and be a refuge, hope, and place of belonging for them, the number Jesus gave in His parable of the kingdom.
My Past and God’s Preserving Grace
I am a sinner in my past, though not engrossed in sex, drugs, or partying as some have testified before coming to Christ. I have never done a drug in my life except alcohol, which by God’s grace I have always hated the taste of. Again by God’s grace I am a virgin and have never been intimate with a woman, not even a kiss, which I thank Jesus for. It was by the grace of God that I did not pursue sexual encounters, and my eczema played a role in keeping me withdrawn from situations that might have led me into temptation.
My Hidden Struggle and Christ’s Deliverance
Yet I was enslaved to masturbation for a very long time in my faith. It began when I was very young, through an accident with my family’s electrical massager in placing it on my lap, not understanding what it was, and it became a hidden struggle. Christ set me free when I looked into the perfect law of liberty — the hygiene laws concerning bodily emissions for males and females in Leviticus 15. These laws taught me reverence for bodily purity: that one should cleanse themselves and the things they touch, and consider themselves unclean for seven days, after which a sacrifice is made for purification. Christ fulfils this sacrifice. As I obeyed what I understood, the Lord had mercy on me, and I found myself free.
My Ongoing Battle and Hope of Complete Purification
I still experience temptations in my sleep at times — things that happen against my conscious will — and I am fighting to overcome every remnant of lust. Sometimes even in dreams I resist, and other times I fall, which shows me that my heart still needs deeper purification. But I trust that God, who began a good work in me, will purify me completely by His grace — whether in this life, or when I pass from this life, or at the resurrection of the just.
My Hope of Salvation
Now I hope to be part of the elect of God and therein saved by grace through faith, having received the righteousness of God as a gift through the redemption that is in Jesus Christ.
The Resurrection and the Promise of Eternal Life
Jesus was resurrected three days after His death so that we who possess faith in Him might also be resurrected and enter His glory. His resurrection shows that His perfect sacrifice on the cross — offered on our behalf to redeem us from sin and exchange our sin for His righteousness — was accepted by God the Father. We can trust that He is who He claimed to be and that His promises are true.
Christ Ascended and the Spirit Given
He is alive today. He ascended to heaven approximately forty days after His resurrection, revealing Himself many times to the apostles and disciples during that period. He came down from heaven and entered the world, and again, He was leaving the world and going back to heaven. Because He ascended to the Father, He promised to send the Holy Spirit to live inside us — to empower us against sin, to comfort us, and to disclose all that Christ has to say to us. The Spirit is the pledge of our eternal inheritance if we remain faithful to Christ and overcome.
Creation Testifies to the Creator
The historical evidence for Jesus’ resurrection makes it more certain than many events historians accept without question. Beyond that, the apostle Paul says creation itself is evidence of the Creator, for His invisible attributes — His eternal power and divine nature — have been clearly perceived since the creation of the world. The universe had a beginning, which points to a Beginner or first cause. The fine tuning of the universe, where even the smallest variation would make life impossible, points to a Designer. The information in DNA — like a programming language, with the amount of information in one cell equivalent to five hundred thousand movies — speaks of an Author of life.
The Moral Argument for God
Then there is the argument from morality: if objective morality exists, then God must exist. And it does. If someone claims morality is relative, I ask: are you absolutely sure? If they answer yes, they have already contradicted their worldview, for they rely on an absolute truth to deny absolute truth.
Experiencing God Personally
There is also personal experience. Believers may experience the peace of Christ, which surpasses understanding, and the presence of God — His love, which is life changing and often described in near death experiences. Christ reveals Himself in dreams, visions, and sometimes even in person, helping us know Him more intimately. He promised to reveal Himself to those who love Him, and that He and His Father would make a place to stay with them.
The Power of Testimony
You can see much of how Christ interacts with people through testimonies on YouTube, which are common and powerful. Scripture says the saints overcame by the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony. I encourage you to search for these stories; they can be inspiring and may even change your life if one of them appeals to you and Christ speaks to your heart through it and ignites faith in Him to redeem you from sin and its power.
Closing Blessing
May the grace of Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
